The Old Barn is situated in the heart of the West Lulworth conservation area which backs on to the Glebe Field and has views of the Church and surrounding hills. We have a beautiful garden which you are welcome to enjoy and we know that you also want to explore this extraordinary area. The Jurassic coast - Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door are just part of the 95 miles of Jurassic coastline and are part of the World Heritage site and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With five beaches accessible to you, it's possible to enjoy our magnificent coast line and still find somewhere quiet to spend the day if you choose to. Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door offers breath taking scenery and visitors come from all over the world to experience and photograph the beauty of these sites.
If you fancy a more challenging day, it is possible to walk East [Range opening times apply] to Tyneham along the South West Coast Path and having got there swim in the tranquil sea at Worbarrow Bay and then walk a mile inland to experience the abandoned village of Tyneham.
To the West of Lulworth Cove are the beaches of St Oswald's Bay, Man O' War Bay, and Durdle Door. There are circular walks to do and we can lend you Ordnance Survey maps and assist you to plan your day.
For a day away from the beach we recommend the rescue centre Monkey World, the Tank Museum , and at Kimmeridge the Etches Collection which is a new museum of Jurassic marine life. Corfe Castle is a quaint village steeped in history going as far back as the 11th century. Corfe Castle is a National Trust property. Athelampton House is a privately owned 15th century manor house and set in beautiful gardens just outside Dorchester. During the summer season they offer lunch and afternoon tea. Kingston Maurward, and Kingston Lacy are country houses and are both just a short distance away. Our local garden centre at Holme Farm sells a variety of beautiful plants and flowers. It also has a superb cafe which offers hot and cold lunches, delicious cakes and has a farm shop selling local produce.
Further away to the West is the Abbotsbury Swannery and Subtropical gardens which are definitely worth a visit, and of course, the beautiful coastal town of Lyme Regis.
